Robert A. Schachter has experience in all aspects of commercial law, financing, mergers and acquisitions, licensing and intellectual property matters. During the first 15 years of Rob's career, he served as trial counsel to a number of companies engaged in commercial litigation in both Federal and State courts nationwide. Utilizing the knowledge he gained from handling cases involving a broad range of general business, banking and commercial financing issues, his practice has grown to include the representation of apparel industry manufacturers, retailers, brand owners, jobbers, and real estate owners and investment groups.
Rob is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a certified commercial arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association. He serves as a director for several non-profit corporations and is actively involved in his local community affairs.
Rob graduated from American University - Kogod School of Business in 1971 with a B.S. in Finance and Marketing. He was a member of the AU basketball team and a member of the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity. He graduated from New York Law School in 1974 where he was a member of Neighborhood Legal Services and the recipient of the American Bar Association National Essay Award, "Best Interests of the Child; Revising Old Standards in New York, " American Bar Association, 1974.
